Reproduction steps
I followed the installation instructions from the docs which got me to the website python.org. From here i clicked on Downloads->Version 3.13.11->Download python install manager->Ran the winget script
This installed the windows store version of python which is currently not compatible with this plugin.
The issues
There are a few issues with this approach. First i had to know that 3.13.11 was the latest supported version and that 3.14 is not yet supported. It would be nice with a matrix of supported versions for each version of the plugin.
Second i was taken to a site that does not contain downloads directly, but had to click through several menus to get to the right version.
When i was at the download page for the right version, it was also extremely easy to click the wrong link.
These issues are obviously because the website and available versions have changed since the documentation was created. But some small things could still be done in the documentation to help make this experience better for new users.
Workaround
Go to this (site)[https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-31311/] and click on the download link at the bottom (the one marked with green)
These install instructions are for OpenTap.Python version 3.2.0
